Misuse of Magic Act 628 KC

An Act to make provision about the misuse of magic and the prosecution of certain offences.

[2nd of September, 628 KC]

Be it enacted by the King’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Council of the King’s Royal Court, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

s1. Misuse of Magic

A person shall be guilty of misuse of magic, if;

  1. While having the capacity to do so, he should willingly;
    1. use magic in the execution of a criminal offence.

s2. Unsanctioned Practice of Forbidden Magic

A person shall be guilty of the unsanctioned practice of forbidden magic, if;

  1. while having the capacity to do so, he should willingly;
    1. cast a spell or enchantment of a forbidden type of magic,
  2. without prior sanction having been given by a magic authority.

s3. Unsanctioned Mental Invasion

A person shall be guilty of unsanctioned mental invasion, if;

  1. While having the capacity to do so, he should willingly and without consent;
    1. cast a spell or enchantment that breaches the mind of a person,
  2. without prior sanction having been given by a magic authority.

s4. Unsanctioned Appearance of a Familiar

A person shall be guilty of the unsanctioned appearance of a familiar, if;

  1. while having the capacity to do so, he should willingly allow a familiar under his control to;
    1. take on a form that is larger than six feet tall, or;
    2. take on a form that is larger than six feet wide, or;
    3. take on the image of something obscene or distasteful, or;
    4. take on the image of a fully sentient being,
  2. without prior sanction having been given by a magic authority.

s5. Inadequate Familiar Identification

A person shall be guilty of inadequate familiar identification, if;

  1. while having the capacity to do so, he should willingly allow a familiar under his control to;
    1. take corporeal form without;
      1. a seal or symbol of its summoner/controller
    2. or, knowingly and deliberately display;
      1. a false seal or symbol of its summoner/controller.

s6. Summoning of a Demon

A person shall be guilty of summoning a daemon, if;

  1. while having the capacity to do so, he should willingly;
    1. attempt to cast, or
    2. successfully cast;
      1. a spell or ritual which results in a daemonic entity taking form within the mortal realm.

s7. Unsanctioned Teleportation and Portal Manifestation

A person shall be guilty of unsanctioned teleportation or portal creation, if;

  1. while having the capacity to do so, he should willingly;
    1. use teleportation magic to enter the City of Stormwind without passing through the Mage Tower teleportation anchor, or;
    2. use teleportation magic to assist another who enters the City of Stormwind without passing through the Mage Tower teleportation anchor, or;
    3. open a portal to an unauthorised drop-off zone without Special Issue License D-6, or;
    4. open a portal of greater dimensions than 3 yards, 1 foot, 3 and 3/4 inches tall, 2 yards, 8 feet, 9 and 15/16 inches wide without Special Issue License G-16.
    5. use teleportation or portals to dispose of solids, liquids, gases or plasma.
  2. without prior sanction having been given by a magic authority.

s8. Unlawful Use and Exploitation of Conjuration

A person shall be guilty of the unlawful use and exploitation of Conjuration, if;

  1. while having the capacity to do so, he should willingly;
    1. conjure coins that resemble sovereign currency, or;
    2. conjure objects of value which are sold or exchanged, where the vendor misleads the purchaser to believe the object is not conjured, or;
    3. conjure an object for use in a criminal act, or;
    4. conjure a deadly object or substance.

s9. Unlawful Use of Transmutation

A person shall be guilty of the unlawful use of transmutation, if;

  1. while having the capacity to do so, he should willingly;
    1. polymorph an individual into a complex creature, or;
    2. polymorph a creature of low intelligence into a creature of high intelligence, or;
    3. transmute a living biological entity into a non-living material object, or;
    4. attempt to transmute multiple creatures into a single entity, or;
    5. transmute one or more materials into one or more other materials, unless:
      1. any materials that are the result of transmutation, each bear a hallmark that signifies that the new materials origin is the result of transmutation.
    6. attempt to perform any physiological transmutation upon a person, unless:
      1. consent from the individual has been given to undergo transmutation, and;
      2. sufficient qualification in the school of transmutation has been obtained by the transmuter.
